Nexus Law is pleased to announce the publication of its article titled “Developing Enforceability-Focused Strategies in International Arbitration Proceedings: A Case Study on the Enforcement of a Foreign Arbitral Award Related to the Sale of Tong Yang Life Insurance” in the 2025 Spring & Summer edition (No. 363) of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB) Arbitration Journal.

Drawing on our experience representing Anbang Group Holdings Co. Limited and Dajia Life Insurance Co., Ltd. in an ICC arbitration that commenced in 2017 and subsequent proceedings for recognition and enforcement of the arbitral award in Korea, the article analyzes a landmark ruling by the Supreme Court of Korea dated November 28, 2024 (Case No. 2023Ma6248), along with lower court decisions that preceded it. The ruling provides meaningful guidance on the scope of Korean courts’ review in enforcement of foreign arbitral awards.

The article also presents Nexus Law’s practical proposals for award creditors seeking to effectively enforce foreign arbitral awards in Korea.
